Company Description
Quintessence AI is a private research centre dedicated to investigating the deep impacts of AI and digital technologies on society, as well as to disseminating scientific advances to the largest audience. We leverage transdisciplinary research methods to produce pioneering approaches and new types of scientific knowledge capable of embracing the complexity of the digital world. While research is our main activity, we do not believe that it ends with the publication of academic papers. This is why we use a range of dissemination channels to inform governments, private organisations and civil society about our research findings.
Our missions
• Produce the kind of research nobody else will: Quintessence AI is a home for unconventional researchers willing to develop pioneering approaches and transdisciplinary methods, mixing psychology and statistics, philosophy and computer science, anthropology and neuroscience to explore novel approaches at the intersection of disciplines.
• Inform society to guide decisions: we build dissemination channels to inform governments, private organisations and populations about scientific advances on critical topics. RITUAL, our digital training initiative, aims to train one million Europeans to use AI ethically and lawfully.
• Develop applications that benefit society: we support researchers willing to engage in impact-driven research with direct benefits for society. We develop practical methodologies and concrete applications that can help protect individuals and shape the future. Why join us?
• A pioneering and impact-driven research environment: work with an interdisciplinary community of top scientists who develop novel approaches to address complex societal problems.
• Research freedom: we support you to work on the topics you are passionate about, publish your findings and promote them at international conferences.
• Promote your research far beyond academia: have your results relayed to high-profile decision-makers and society at large, via our dissemination channels.
• Build a leading European research centre: contribute to the development of a fast-growing organisation aiming to become the European reference research institution on the social impacts of AI and digital technologies. Who we are looking for? We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about researching critical societal challenges related to AI and digital technologies. We welcome applicants with technical backgrounds (computer sciences, machine learning, statistics) to join a transdisciplinary research team with expertise range from neurosciences and cognitive psychology to computer sciences. Applicants with research experience in Responsible AI (fairness, transparency, explainability...) and AI safety (alignment, evaluations, hallucinations, vulnerabilities, multi-agent systems) is a plus. NLP and computational linguistic experience is also a plus. All applicants should be fluent in English and legally allowed to work in France. All positions are full-time on-site positions; applications for remote work will not be considered. Qualifications
• Strong research skills in ML/AI, including experience designing studies, reviewing literature, and publishing scientific work.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and computational tools commonly used in machine learning and AI.
• Laboratory skills relevant to experimental or computational research environments, such as experiment design, reproducibility, and documentation.
• Doctoral degree (PhD) in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with ML/AI frameworks and languages (e.g., Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and good software engineering practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and manage multiple research activities independently.
