The actuary is responsible for performing pricing and experience analysis for the French markets on protection business. This includes short-term business for self-employed individuals, groups, and non-proportional business, as well as providing support for long-term business such as credit life and Long-Term Care.
Responsibilities
In this role, the Actuary is responsible for all activities outlined in the SGL Pricing Process, covering various subprocesses involved in quoting deals. This includes data collection, experience analysis, setting assumptions, model development and analysis, final quote setting, and CART reporting.
At the local level, pricing activities are customer-focused and aim to enhance SCOR's ability to write profitable new business. This may involve client services like product development, experience analysis, as well as tasks related to corporate actuarial, finance/reporting, and business development.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Market Pricing:
- Performing pricing activities to deliver timely, reliable, and consistent quotes, including risk assessment and process compliance
- Developing local pricing models and benchmarks, adapting them to global method evolutions for local consistency
- Supporting business functions on product development, risk, and profitability
- Providing support for business activities such as client visits, presentations, technical seminars, and training
- Contributing to innovative/strategic projects within the market and global pricing communities
- Analyzing clients' experience within the quotation processes
- Improving actuarial assumptions for pricing purposes
- Supporting projects for developing data pools and client services based on experience analysis
Experience:
- 5 to 10 years of work experience in insurance/reinsurance focusing on actuarial issues
- Experience with statistical and actuarial methods and tools, including Excel, VBA, Python, and R
- Work Standards: Setting high performance standards for self and others, taking responsibility for completing assignments successfully, and maintaining standards of excellence
- Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through various media to engage the audience and help them understand the message
- Technical/Professional Knowledge: Demonstrating a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill in position-related areas, staying updated with current developments and trends in expertise
- Ability to work in a large team, support peak periods, and establish collaborative relationships to achieve work goals
- Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness during major changes in work responsibilities or environment, adjusting to new work requirements, structures, or cultures
- Stress Tolerance: Performing well under pressure or job ambiguity, handling stress effectively with a strong sense of priorities
- Graduate of Actuarial Science school
- Qualification or equivalency from a recognized actuarial organization
