The Position Business Area – Purchasing Director for Performance Minerals EMEA-APAC H/F Job Summary The Purchasing Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategic procurement initiatives across EMEA‑APAC, overseeing purchasing teams within regional hubs, and driving value creation through a robust purchasing network. Job Scopes/Dimensions Manage 30+ legal entities across EMEA, covering 8,000+ suppliers and processing ~13,000 transactions (invoices) monthly. Lead a team of 5 direct reports, including 2 category managers for BA raw materials, and a wider group of 30+ purchasers & procurers across EMEA. Coordinate and consolidate reporting for the APAC Hub in partnership with the APAC Purchasing Director. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Develop and implement the BA/Hub/site purchasing vision and multi‑year roadmap for key EMEA markets (UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain). Drive significant cost savings and value creation through strategic sourcing and supplier management. Oversee and optimize PM EMEA‑APAC purchasing organization processes and reporting structures. Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal clients and business partners, including peers from other business units and business areas leadership. Act as liaison between procurement and business units, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. Quantify purchasing function contributions to variable and fixed costs, impacting Imerys' bottom line. Take full responsibility for the PM EMEA‑APAC BA scope on Source to Contract (S2C) and Procure to Pay (P2P) processes. Implement responsible purchasing strategy aligned with Group objectives, balancing quantitative targets with qualitative improvements for sustainability. Benchmark industry best practices to develop globally aligned regional category strategies for key focus areas (Transport, Indirect, Industrial Equipment & Services, Raw Materials, Packaging & Chemicals, HME & Mining, Energy). Identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation and value addition across all categories. Lead cross‑functional teams in complex, high‑stakes tender processes, delivering high‑impact negotiations that influence profitability and competitiveness. Job Specifications Work experience: Minimum 10 years in purchasing and/or operations within industrial settings, internationally, managing similar team sizes and spend levels. Education: Master's degree in Business or Engineering; specialization in purchasing is an advantage. Languages: Fluent in English; knowledge of French is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Strong relationship‑building and influencing skills at all levels. Expertise in complex negotiations. Results‑driven, able to lead teams under pressure. Effective multitasker in fast‑paced environments. Knowledge of mineral mining industry, markets and regulations is a plus. Experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
