Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and skilled Senior User Terminal System Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the UT Engineering Team. In this position, you’ll work closely with external vendors on new UT development, evaluating performance to ensure implementation compliance with the System/UT requirements. You will also collaborate with the internal software team to architect embedded software for the User Terminal and oversee hardware development. For the future UT roadmap, you will work closely with E2E System Engineering to shape the next generation of the UT. Who You Are: An enthusiastic software and hardware engineer with good understanding and experience in system engineering, user terminal architecture and embedded software. Familiar with industry best‑practice software development methodologies, design and hardware integration. What You’ll Do: Provide Technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to define and shape the hardware design/architecture and functional specification of new UTs. Provide SWaP and sizing trade‑offs/analysis for the UT hardware down‑selection process. Work closely with vendors during hardware down‑selection and support integration firmware/software of the chosen platform. Support new UT development programs and advise UT vendors on best engineering practices in design and implementation. Where applicable, support the team in next‑generation UT architectural design, new ICD and requirement definitions. What You’ll Need: Good understanding of end‑to‑end wireless communication systems, especially satellite communications. Good understanding of User Terminal architecture design & development. Deep experience in: Antenna & RF subsystem, Modem Chipset and Electronics. Experience in hardware design, integration and manufacturing trade‑offs. Experience liaising with supply chain and 3rd‑party vendors for User Terminal design implementation. Understanding of 3GPP, 5G, NTN architectures and definitions. Desirable expertise: Beamforming network (analog, digital, hybrid), Satcom Air Interface & Waveforms and PCB design. >Scripting and data analysis capability. Passion for complex problem solving with a proven track record. Grounded in electronic measurement and instrumentation techniques, including RF measurement.
