About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team at Dark, a pioneering company in the field of spacecraft and mission design. As a key member of our mechanical engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the development of a cutting-edge orbital demonstrator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct trade-off studies, contribute to hardware development, and inform test activities as a structural analyst.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the mechanical architect, other structural engineers, and design engineers to achieve project goals.
  • Design Loop: Participate in the first design loop of the demonstrator, from development to testing, and contribute to architectural trade-offs, validation, and testing requirements.
  • Analysis and Testing: Perform preliminary and detailed structural analyses, including static, thermo-structural, modal, vibroacoustic, and shock analysis, and generate structural test plans and supervise test activities.
  • Documentation: Document your work clearly to inform future tests and analyses.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Ideal background from the Defense/Aerospace industry.
  • Industrial experience in structural analysis through analytical and numerical methods applied to real-world problems.
  • Proficient user of FEA packages (ideally Ansys Workbench).
  • Applied knowledge of quasi-static and dynamic analyses.
  • High-level knowledge of various failure modes.
  • Ability to work in a highly iterative environment during early design phases.
  • Applied knowledge of Coupled Loads Analysis and super-elements is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with testing (quasi-static, sine & random vibration, shock, and acoustic) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of technical English is required. Fluency in French is a plus.
