ArcelorMittal Maizieres ResearchArcelorMittal Maizieres Research is the world's largest research center, comprising four labs dedicated to specific areas: Product, Process, Bars & Wires, and Pilote. Our Digital Technologies cluster, part of the Process Lab, focuses on developing digital and cyber-physics solutions for process control and optimization, as well as product control. Our team of approximately 40 individuals, including apprentices, technicians, engineers, and researchers, is passionate about advancing the field of digitalization and decarbonization.
Role OverviewAs a Research Engineer, you will play a key role in our efforts to decarbonize and digitalize the steel manufacturing process. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing and integrating advanced physical thermal models to monitor and optimize furnaces in the steel manufacturing process.
- Developing and integrating online control systems.
- Leading research activities in the framework of research projects and providing technical support to plants.
- Contributing to the development and renewal of our activities, including proposing new research axes and projects.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree or PhD in Control Engineering, Automation, Physics, or a relevant discipline.
- A solid background in control engineering, including feedback loops, PID controllers, Model Predictive Control, and optimal controls.
- Proficiency in computer programming languages such as Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, or Python.
- Solid knowledge of real-time and embedded systems.
- Knowledge of heat transfer, thermal phenomena, and physics, including combustion, pyrolysis, oxidation, and physical modeling.
- Measurement techniques, including instrumentation and signal processing.
- Knowledge of Fluent or Comsol is a plus.
- Advanced levels of English and French.
- Ability to run laboratory experiments and trials in industrial plants.
- Ability to work in a team.
