Research Engineer in Advanced Models and Control Systems

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel producer, is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join its Digital Technologies cluster. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of advanced physical thermal models and process control systems to optimize steel manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and integrate advanced physical thermal models to monitor and optimize furnaces in steel manufacturing processes
- Design and implement online control systems to improve process efficiency
- Lead research activities in the framework of research projects and provide technical support to plants
- Contribute to the development and renewal of research activities, proposing new research axes and projects
- Master's degree or PhD in Control Engineering, Automation, Physics, or a relevant discipline
- Solid background in control engineering, including feedback loops, PID controllers, and optimal controls
- Proficiency in computer programming with Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, or Python
- Solid knowledge of real-time and embedded systems
- Knowledge of heat transfer, thermal phenomena, and physics, including combustion, pyrolysis, and oxidation
- Measurement techniques, including instrumentation and signal processing
- Fluent or Comsol knowledge is a plus
- Advanced levels of English and French
- Ability to run laboratory experiments and trials in industrial plants
- Ability to work in a team
