The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team in the field of materials science. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of a novel nano-focused 3D spectroscopic coherent imaging technique at the nanoprobe ID01-EBS beamline.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply the nano-focused 3D spectroscopic coherent imaging technique to study the structural and chemical properties of alloyed Cu catalysts under gas conditions.
- Contribute to the development of a robust algorithm for 3D spectroscopic Bragg imaging.
- Collaborate with global experts to advance science and address societal challenges.
- Participate in the characterization of structural properties of nanostructures and the development of new catalysts for CO2 reduction.
- Master's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a closely related field.
- Programming skills in Python and experience or interest in developing data analysis software.
- Strong interest in material science and catalysis.
- Good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and presentational skills.
- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF).
The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience. The successful candidate will join an innovative international research institute with a workforce from 38 different countries. The ESRF offers a competitive compensation and allowances package, including financial support for relocation to Grenoble.
