About Faurecia
Faurecia is a leading developer and supplier of vehicle seating, instrument panels, interior trim, electronic devices for vehicle cockpits, and Advanced Driving Assistance Systems, as well as clean solutions for all automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers.
Our Group Intellectual Property (IP) division is seeking a Senior Patent Engineer (M/F) with a leadership role in managing IP matters for the Business Group Seating. The Group IP team consists of approximately 40 professionals located in various countries, including France, Germany, the United States, India, China, and Japan, with national Patent Attorneys among them. The IP professionals focusing on Seating IP matters are based in multiple locations, ensuring a global approach to our IP strategy.
The Seating IP manager will be stationed in a key location and will report directly to the Group IP Director.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering comprehensive patent services and managing the patent portfolio for the Seating Business Group.
- Advising the business on various IP matters.
- Validating First Filing decisions in alignment with the IP Group strategy and the priorities of the Seating Business Group.
- Organizing Patent Committee Meetings to make strategic decisions regarding patent extensions and portfolio management.
- Ensuring that Patent Clearance and Freedom to Operate (FTO) requirements are met effectively.
- Assessing complex and financially significant situations and providing clear recommendations.
- Leading specific tasks agreed upon with the Business Group and overseeing key performance indicators (KPIs), portfolio categorization, and budget adherence.
- Managing the IP staff reporting directly to him/her and allocating tasks to other IP team members.
- Collaborating on cross-Business Group projects in conjunction with the IP Group Director.
- Coordinating with the IP Law organization as necessary for the management of Intellectual Property Rights and Freedom to Operate for the Business Group.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An Engineering Degree or Master's degree in Mechanics and/or Electronics.
- Strong knowledge of patent laws and procedures in Europe, with familiarity with other countries' laws being advantageous.
- A University degree in Intellectual Property, preferably with a Patent Attorney certification.
- Significant experience in patent portfolio management and Freedom to Operate matters; experience in IP litigation is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
