Postdoctoral Researcher in Vascular Biomechanics

Institut Mines-Télécom, a leading public group of engineering and management Grandes Écoles in France, is seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join its team. The successful candidate will be part of the SAINBIOSE research unit, a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Mines Saint-Étienne, Jean Monnet University, Saint-Etienne University Hospital, Inserm, and the French Blood Establishment.
The research team is focused on understanding the mechanical behavior of soft tissues, with a particular emphasis on vascular biomechanics. The postdoctoral researcher will work on the ERC Advanced grant project JuvenTwin, which aims to establish multiscale digital twins of aging effects on vascular mechanobiology and simulate and screen effective rejuvenation treatments.
Responsibilities- Study the mechanics of cells embedded in hydrogels using confocal microscopy to assess morphologies and measure traction forces using digital volume correlation
- Test excised aortas with custom computer-controlled extension-distension testing devices combined with in situ multiphoton techniques to study the effects of vascular aging on mechanobiology
- Conduct a 6-month stay at Yale University (Jay Humphrey's lab) to collaborate with international experts in the field
- PhD degree in biomechanics or a related field
- Excellent knowledge of cell biology and biomechanics
- Experience with testing vascular cells and/or blood vessels
- Strong programming skills in front-end and back-end development
