Your Role

This position offers flexibility in location.

Position Overview:

The Category Team Leader is tasked with defining and executing procurement initiatives related to strategic categories associated with agricultural products, with a specific focus on the strategic Citrus portfolio.

Leading a team of Global Category Managers, this role encompasses the management of multiple categories on a global scale and reports directly to the Global Categories Procurement Director.

Developing talent and the ability to drive and implement change are critical for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and executes a comprehensive global Strategic Sourcing plan across various categories to ensure effective portfolio turnover and spend analysis.
  • Provides guidance and constructive feedback on Strategic Sourcing processes to enhance capabilities and mature practices within Procurement teams.
  • Identifies, formulates, and implements global and regional sourcing strategies aimed at cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supply security. Communicates sourcing strategies for approved alternative suppliers to maximize value at both regional and global levels.
  • Engages and energizes the global network to ensure regional implementation and local execution.
  • Clearly communicates strategies, outcomes, and metrics to leadership teams as necessary.
  • Skillfully negotiates key commercial and supply agreements for designated raw materials to align with Symrise's business objectives. Identifies and negotiates global supply contracts when suitable.
  • Remains informed about industry trends for assigned categories, providing insights and recommendations to business units to support margin and revenue growth.
  • Effectively implements strategic supplier initiatives and strategies, fostering business relationships at various levels within key supplier accounts to enhance performance, quality, productivity, and service levels.
  • Responsible for defining and executing Responsible Sourcing processes in accordance with Global Sustainability criteria.
  • Proactively escalates and engages relevant supplier business leaders to address supply disruptions and constraints.
  • Develops, aligns, and drives strategic projects aimed at enhancing procurement processes, tools, and efficiencies.
  • Implements procurement infrastructure in collaboration with functions and supply chain to ensure availability at required quality and cost levels.
  • Cultivates and mentors a team of Buyers and Managers with global responsibilities.
About You

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel - approximately 30%.
