Job Summary

The Director of Group Sales is a senior-level hotel sales role that reports directly to the Director of Sales. This position is responsible for managing and leading the sales staff, as well as managing select key accounts. The Director of Group Sales is an 18-24 month commitment with a clear goal to experience the training and development necessary to become a future Director of Sales for Hyatt.

Responsibilities
  1. Mentor and train sales staff
  2. Recruit and hire sales staff
  3. Lead sales meetings
  4. Work with catering and convention services
  5. Involve in the annual business plan process
  6. Forecasting
  7. Owners meetings
  8. Systems training
  9. Report analysis
  10. P&L management
  11. Business travel and tradeshows
  12. Customer entertainment
  13. Community involvement and networking

Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel Sales experience (typically with Hyatt)
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • At least 3 years experience in a senior role in a hotel sales area
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
