About Orano Mining's R&D Environmental Department
Orano Mining's Health, Safety, Environment, and Remodeling Directorate houses the R&D Environmental Department. This department is dedicated to anticipating future scientific and technological advancements within the mining industry to minimize its environmental impact. The team achieves this through the development of innovative analytical tools and methods, combining expertise in reactive transport modeling and specialized sampling techniques.
Your Role as an Environmental Research Engineer
As an Environmental Research Engineer, you will play a crucial role in evaluating the environmental footprint of Orano Mining sites by studying the movement of contaminants downstream. Your responsibilities will include:
- Organizing and conducting geochemical sampling missions on mining sites, encompassing water, soil, and gas samples.
- Monitoring and interpreting the results of sample analyses.
- Integrating this data into hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical modeling studies (reactive transport) to simulate the long-term behavior of contaminants of interest.
- Conducting studies while ensuring efficient project management, adhering to time and budget constraints.
- Managing academic and industrial research partnerships to enhance ongoing studies.
- Preparing comprehensive scientific reports for clients, including mining sites and projects.
Collaboration and Impact
You will be part of a team of three individuals with complementary expertise. Your contributions in geochemistry/mineralogy, modeling focused on environmental issues, project management skills, and rigorous approach will benefit both the team and our clients.
Your work will encompass multiple projects and involve participation in team-based studies or monitoring at all stages of the mining sites' lifecycle. You will:
- Implement and adapt the necessary tools and methods for assigned tasks under the guidance of the R&D Environmental Project Manager.
- Conduct site visits, both domestically and internationally, to ensure the successful completion of R&D projects.
- Adhere to project schedules and timelines as set by the R&D Project Manager.
- Maintain a high standard for data quality and ensure the relevance of your interpretations.
- Produce technical and summary reports at each stage of project completion.
- Communicate results effectively and align them with client requirements through interactions at various mining sites.
