Role Overview: Visual Merchandising Manager for Southern Europe

Purpose of the Position

The Visual Merchandising Manager will be responsible for implementing global visual merchandising standards across all signature stores and counters in Southern Europe. This includes overseeing retail campaigns, new store launches, merchandising, and aligning our creative vision with retail expectations.

Acting as the primary liaison for retail teams, the Visual Merchandising Manager will communicate essential information vital to the success of visual merchandising displays and provide training to ensure the consistent application of Aesop's visual language across all locations in the region.

The sub-regional VM Manager will interpret and adapt guidelines from the Global Head Office in collaboration with the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager for EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategically plan and execute merchandising campaigns tailored to each unique space, harmonizing product focus with campaign navigation and visual storytelling principles.
  2. Inspire, mentor, and guide the local Visual Merchandising team, managing performance, setting goals, and providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  3. Design large-scale installations and props in accordance with Global Head Office directives for activation across all stores.
  4. Timely submission of all visual merchandising reports to the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager for EMEA.
  5. Create and install displays for press, customer, and cultural events to support product launches.
  6. Collaborate closely with the Marketing Manager to manage budgets for all visual merchandising projects.
  7. Build and maintain strong relationships with Marketing and Retail Managers to ensure store presentations align with company standards.
  8. Develop and maintain partnerships with external fabricators and contractors.
  9. Work in tandem with Retail and Store Design teams to ensure successful new store openings as directed by the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager for EMEA.
  10. Establish clear communication with all relevant stakeholders, including Store Managers and Marketing Managers, providing timely visual merchandising directives and feedback.
  11. Train retail teams on visual merchandising guidelines, covering aspects such as product display, demonstration areas, and lighting.
  12. Assist with additional projects, including press events and product launches, as needed.

Qualifications for Success

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in visual merchandising, visual arts, interior design, or a related field.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a commercial, retail, or creative environment.
  • Proven managerial experience with the ability to lead a team effectively.
  • A deep appreciation for Aesop's aesthetic and visual merchandising approach, with the ability to adapt these principles to our diverse store portfolio.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision in visual merchandising execution.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying detailed visual concepts both verbally and graphically.
  • Experience in styling and documenting interior spaces for social media.
  • Background in sourcing props for specific project requirements.
  • Commitment to sustainable practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • A proactive approach to presenting creative ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
