Position Overview: Projects HSE Manager (H/F)
ENGIE is committed to becoming a key player in the production of 1G biomethane across Europe, with a goal of achieving 10 TWh/y of biomethane production capacity by 2030.
About Renewable Gases Europe:
Our projects are underway in various European countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and Italy, with additional interests in Spain, Portugal, and Romania. Our strategy encompasses both greenfield developments and mergers & acquisitions to facilitate the injection of biomethane into the gas grid or the production of bioLNG.
Organizational Structure:
The Projects HSE Manager will report functionally to the Head of HSE for Renewable Gases Europe and operationally to the Head of Project Management.
Management System Responsibilities:
- Develop, revise, and disseminate HSE processes, procedures, and templates for project execution in alignment with ENGIE's Health and Safety Policy and Group Standards.
- Implement HSE processes and procedures across project execution activities.
- Assist in defining the HSE strategy and foundational assumptions for projects during the pre-construction phase.
- Formulate specific instructions for operations with significant risk exposure.
- Create and implement Project/Site-specific HSE documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Training:
- Act as the ENGIE One Safety Culture ambassador, training Site Managers, Execution Project Managers, and relevant personnel on the EOSC program.
- Engage in HSE community meetings within ENGIE and the Biomethane sector.
- Foster positive relationships with internal team members and contractor representatives.
- Support contractors and internal teams in understanding and applying HSE processes and tools.
- Develop training materials and conduct formal training sessions and assessments.
Compliance Monitoring:
- Establish systems to monitor compliance and identify deviations (e.g., site access control, tool verification lists).
- Review HSE documentation from suppliers and contractors to ensure adherence to regulations and ENGIE standards.
- In case of incidents, analyze causes and assist in formulating corrective action plans.
- Conduct internal and external audits, ensuring the resolution of non-conformities.
Reporting Duties:
- Implement tracking systems and develop KPI dashboards for HSE performance monitoring.
- Meet reporting obligations and deadlines, coordinating efforts and consolidating data as necessary.
- Share and leverage project feedback on HSE practices.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit Project HSE Advisors in line with the expansion of the execution team.
- Lead and manage the Projects HSE team effectively.
- Allocate HSE resources to project teams while maintaining management and performance accountability.
Work Environment:
This role will be based in one of the RGE units, allowing for flexible teleworking as per local policies, with regular travel to other RGE units and project sites across Europe.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Health and safety qualifications recognized by a reputable authority (e.g., NEBOSH Level 6, CSP).
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in HSE roles within industrial projects (bioenergy, energy, chemicals, water/waste treatment) in an EPC or contractor setting, preferably on an international scale.
- Extensive experience in construction environments, developing and executing HSE processes and procedures.
- Strong technical expertise in Health and Safety for construction projects, including risk assessment and auditing; knowledge of environmental management systems is a plus.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English is essential for interaction with international teams.
- Knowledge of French is advantageous.
