Newrest is seeking a skilled Cook responsible for preparing and cooking meals for a leading airline at a major airport. This role involves working with a globally recognized catering company.

**Compensation:** This position is compensated on a bi-weekly basis.

**Flexibility Required:** Must be available to work any shift based on operational requirements, including overnight shifts.

Salary: Compensation varies by level, with Level I starting at $16.00 per hour.

Schedule: Varied shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the required menus.
  • Follow the preparation list created by chefs to organize daily tasks.
  • Responsible for food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining organization in the kitchen.
  • Prepare a variety of dishes including meats, fish, pastas, and garnishes according to established recipes.
  • Utilize various cooking methods such as roasting, frying, steaming, grilling, and baking as required.
  • Prepare ingredients by cleaning, peeling, chopping, and measuring.
  • Create sauces and dressings in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate food production records and ensure all kitchen equipment is functional.
  • Prepare and garnish items for service readiness.
  • Practice proper portion control and forecast production needs.
  • Adhere to grooming and hygiene standards, utilizing safety equipment as necessary.
  • Organize products in cooling areas for efficient service.
  • Secure the kitchen and ensure all equipment is turned off before leaving.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and other departments.
  • Comply with all company service standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Assist in ensuring all kitchen areas are prepared for service.
  • Responsible for maintaining sanitation and post-service organization.
  • Report any maintenance issues or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Assess food quality through taste and smell.
  • Monitor food temperatures to ensure safety standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Knowledge of HACCP is beneficial (training will be provided).
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within a restaurant or catering environment.
  • Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to work on weekends.
