Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Construction Lead to direct and oversee mechanical construction operations on a significant nuclear new build initiative. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with other discipline leads, the Client, and design partners to ensure the successful execution of the project. This position demands substantial experience in managing new build EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, particularly utilizing a staged gate/RIBA methodology on a brownfield site within the nuclear sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Leadership: Direct the mechanical construction activities, ensuring they align with project objectives, schedules, and quality benchmarks.
- Project Execution: Supervise the planning, coordination, and implementation of all mechanical construction tasks, ensuring timely completion within budget and to the specified quality standards.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Engage in close collaboration with the Client and design partners to ensure mechanical construction efforts are in sync with overall project design and goals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee that all mechanical construction operations adhere to nuclear safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with mechanical construction, developing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of mechanical construction professionals, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and uphold stringent quality control measures to ensure all mechanical construction activities meet or surpass industry standards.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of mechanical construction activities, including progress reports and regulatory submissions.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Advocate for a robust safety culture, ensuring that all mechanical construction activities prioritize personnel health and environmental protection.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Project Management Professional (PMP)) is preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in mechanical construction within the nuclear or energy sectors, with a strong focus on new build EPC projects, particularly on brownfield sites.

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools.

Additional Requirements:

- Willingness to travel to various sites and work extended hours as necessary for the project.
