INTRODUCTION TO RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE
ENGIE is committed to establishing itself as a key player in 1G biomethane across Europe, with a strategic goal to expand rapidly and achieve a production capacity of 10 TWh/y by 2030.
Biomethane production initiatives are currently underway in various European countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and Italy, with additional interest in Spain, Portugal, and Romania. The approach involves developing projects through both greenfield initiatives and mergers & acquisitions, aimed at injecting biomethane into the gas grid or producing bioLNG.
POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Process Discipline Manager operates under the functional oversight of the Engineering Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Process Discipline Manager is accountable for the following:
Establishing and overseeing the process team:
Collaborate with the HR team to recruit and onboard process engineers. Manage the process team across various engineering offices, covering all types of mechanical, biological, and gas processes utilized in RGE operations. Facilitate the development of team skills in partnership with HR & Talents through training, practical experience, and career progression.Ensuring the delivery of process engineering outputs for RGE projects:
Oversee the workload of the process team and ensure the appropriate allocation of engineers to project teams throughout all project phases (development, design & procurement, construction & commissioning) to: Conduct Preliminary, Basic & Detailed Process Design, including equipment design or specification, sizing, and production of heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and preparation of process and equipment specifications and data sheets. Review and validate contractors' and suppliers' detailed designs and commissioning plans. Support the project team during construction & commissioning by addressing site queries, managing interfaces, and handling change management. Ensure that plant performance is accurately calculated and aligned with the project's business objectives. Depending on project requirements and team size, the Discipline Manager may also undertake various process engineering tasks directly.Guaranteeing the industrialization of RGE projects and engineering reliability throughout the project lifecycle:
Incorporate industrialization into project design by developing standard P&IDs, Hazop, etc. Implement methods, processes, and tools, including digital solutions, to ensure the quality of process engineering outputs while adhering to the project's business plan, budget, and timeline. Prioritize Health & Safety considerations for both existing and new technologies in the process design. Facilitate the documentation of lessons learned and the continuous enhancement of process engineering standards and practices.LOCATION
Regular travel to various engineering offices or project sites may be necessary.
KEY INTERACTIONS
In addition to the Engineering team, the Process Discipline Manager will collaborate with:
Management of RGE RGE teams across Europe: Project Management, Industrialization, Business Development, Operations, Procurement, etc. Suppliers and contractors Other Group Engineering teams and Corporate Knowledge Management Team.CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate for the Process Discipline Manager position should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Educational Background and Experience:
M.S. degree in chemical engineering or a related field. A minimum of 15 years of experience in process engineering roles within the energy, water, waste treatment, or process industries, particularly in an EPC contractor environment. Experience in a project-oriented culture that emphasizes collaboration, agility, and innovation. At least 5 years of experience in team leadership.Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French and other languages is advantageous.Key Skills:
Leadership capabilities. Experience managing multicultural teams with an understanding of cultural differences. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Familiarity with engineering entities and matrix organizations. Change management skills, with an open-minded approach to transformation. Able to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment. Demonstrates professionalism, ethics, fairness, and trustworthiness.Expertise in gases, including biomethane and synthetic methane, while excluding hydrogen.
Experience with first-generation biomethane produced through anaerobic digestion of biomass.
