Practice Area
BCG's Energy practice assists companies in navigating an increasingly intricate business landscape. This practice encompasses the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors. We also possess extensive knowledge in Energy Transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management, as well as Energy Engineering and Services. Our projects typically leverage BCG's core consulting skills in functional areas such as digitalization, strategy, organization, or performance enhancement, all within the unique context of Energy.
We also tackle projects that involve more operational or technical challenges, delivered through our expert consultants, occasionally in collaboration with external specialists. We engage with senior leaders from prominent international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators, and financial institutions. The Energy Practice has experienced rapid and sustained annual growth over several years, accounting for approximately 10% of BCG's global business volume. Globally, over 300 Partners, Principals, and Project Leaders concentrate on the Energy sector, supported by a substantial group of Energy-experienced and trained Consultants and Analysts, many of whom have prior industry experience. We are renowned for our long-standing history of pioneering research and thought leadership. Consulting with BCG guarantees involvement in the most pressing issues faced by senior management, offering a diverse range of experiences across various clients, topics, and geographies.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Associate/Consultant within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will be an integral member of our practice, collaborating with some of the industry's leading minds to shape the future of the Oil & Gas sector and drive the Energy Transition and Decarbonization efforts. You will work on challenging projects alongside team members from diverse backgrounds, advising clients on a range of topics, including:
- Crafting a strategy to attain carbon neutrality for the upstream sector of an international Oil and Gas firm
- Establishing a diversification strategy into low-carbon ventures for an Oil Field Service company
- Supporting mergers and acquisitions, as well as post-merger integrations
- Transforming the operational framework of a drilling enterprise
- Leading the performance recovery of a service contractor in South America
- Redesigning the organizational structure of an exploration and production subsidiary of a global Oil and Gas corporation
- Conducting market analyses on low-carbon energies to facilitate an Oil and Gas company's Energy Transition strategy
- Designing a new offshore operational model for a leading International Oil Company in the North Sea
Qualifications
- 3 to 8 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector, either with an Upstream Operator (IOC, NOC, PE owned) or a Service Company
- Experience in demanding roles and assets, preferably in technical disciplines (Drilling, Operations, Project Development, Geosciences...)
- A strong passion for the Oil & Gas industry and its decarbonization
- Proven ability to manage multiple client and stakeholder relationships and effectively network within the client organization to understand their needs and influence their agenda
- Interpersonal skills to collaborate with executive management teams as they implement a new vision and empower leaders to drive change within organizations
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, high ethical standards, and experience in international environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, complemented by strong presence and leadership capabilities
