Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Attorney to join our team in a key role that will involve managing a global portfolio of patents and working closely with our engineering and legal teams to drive innovation and intellectual property strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the patent generation process and advise on patentability evaluations
  • Work on opposition and execution, including court appearances
  • Conduct prior art searches, freedom to operate studies, and technical state of the art research
  • Manage a network of specialized IP and industrial property lawyers
  • Track costs and manage budgets
  • Support M&A operations by identifying patent portfolios

Requirements

  • European patent attorney with experience in other European patent offices
  • Technical experience in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent, with experience in the rotating equipment industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in patent-related activities (description and opposition)
  • Experience in supervising external lawyers in patent drafting and prosecution worldwide
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to develop innovative IP strategies
  • Strong financial awareness for decision-making throughout the patent lifecycle
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, practices, and procedures related to patents in Europe, the US, and Asia
  • Interpersonal skills required to interact with various levels and functions within the company
  • English mastery is required, French is considered a valuable asset

Desirable Qualifications

  • Technical experience in the energy sector
  • Experience with the ANAQUA patent management tool
  • Experience as a European representative before the European Patent Office
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, make decisions, and propose recommendations quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize problems, develop process-focused solutions, and communicate effectively with a wide range of cross-functional teams
