Job Overview

In the context of the Masters Programmes in Fashion Design and Fashion Styling, the role involves establishing the strategic direction and guidelines for the planning and execution of academic initiatives within the faculty. This includes overseeing course progression and evaluating performance metrics related to content quality, academic actions, and student satisfaction, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and regulatory requirements. The position also entails directing and coordinating efforts related to the innovation of academic offerings and teaching methodologies, contributing to the training of tutors, and fostering relationships with academic institutions.

Core Responsibilities

Instructional Duties

  • Design and organize teaching activities, preparing lectures that integrate industry standards and relevant briefs.
  • Coordinate activities pertinent to course topics, including engaging guest speakers and facilitating external visits, while collaborating with tutors and unit leaders for effective delivery.
  • Proactively seek resources and input for students, remaining responsive to their individual needs and practical experiences.

Programme Oversight and Promotion

  • Oversee comprehensive programme management and promotional activities.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of tutors and the preparation of unit handbooks prior to the academic year.
  • Manage assessment processes and coordinate the allocation of marking responsibilities among tutors, ensuring assessment moderation is upheld.
  • Prepare for visits from external examiners.
  • Engage in various committees and meetings as part of the academic contribution to the institution's initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance department to address informal student complaints and prepare programme handbooks.
  • Work in partnership with headquarters and other Istituto Marangoni campuses to contribute to the modification and validation of programmes through consultation with peers.
  • Provide expertise to the admissions team in evaluating applicants for programme entry and collaborate on promotional activities such as open days and recruitment events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local agents to remain informed about events and promotional opportunities.

Research and Academic Contribution

  • Actively engage in advancing knowledge within the field through participation in conferences, exhibitions, and the development of research projects and publications.
  • Ensure ongoing professional development and currency in the field is maintained.

Student Support and Wellbeing

  • Conduct individual and group tutorials, providing additional support for students facing challenges.
  • Actively promote student wellbeing by addressing significant safeguarding issues and referring students to appropriate support services when necessary.

Leadership and Management

  • Manage personal resources, fostering professional growth and skill development; plan and organize tasks and activities while assigning new projects.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, ethical standards, and institutional procedures.
  • Support initiatives related to succession planning, change management, and innovation.
  • Guarantee that all academic documentation is accurately produced and consistently updated.
