The headquarters of AXA Group (GIE AXA) consolidates our corporate functions, providing guidance and support to subsidiaries globally. This ensures the alignment and monitoring of the Group's overarching strategy, adherence to its standards, consistency in commercial approaches, and the sharing of best practices. With approximately 1000 employees from 45 different nationalities, our headquarters is a vibrant and stimulating workplace.

Joining the Group Underwriting Office, a newly established department focused on enhancing the performance of our insurance portfolio, you will support our intensified commitment to technical excellence. This platform will also play a pivotal role in defining our global strategy regarding emerging risks associated with energy transition and cybersecurity in the years ahead.

As part of the Group CUO Operations & Transformation team, a strategic function within AXA GUO and AXA GIE, you will facilitate the GUO Organization through collaboration, support, and a mindset geared towards continuous improvement and simplification.

We achieve this by collaborating with key stakeholders across AXA GIE functions, GUO, and entities to drive strategic priorities with a disciplined approach, effective change management, clear communication, and investment in our key strategic initiatives.

Your Job and Daily Responsibilities:

Job Purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to create and manage the GUO budget, ensuring our investments align with our Technical Excellence strategy while supporting operational and ad-hoc priorities.

Assist the broader GUO Transformation & Operations Team with operational and administrative tasks.

Context & Major Challenges

The newly formed Global Chief Underwriting Office is responsible for establishing and driving profit and growth through Product Underwriting Strategy, Portfolio Design, and Technical Underwriting Excellence in collaboration with AXA Entities, for both Commercial and Retail sectors.

The CUO Transformation & Operations team, led by the Head of Group CUO Transformation & Operations, is tasked with executing the CUO strategy at all levels.

Key Accountabilities

You will take the lead on various topics and provide support to the GUO Head of Operations and Engagement, collaborating closely with all members of the Group Transformation & Operations Team, GUO team, and relevant entities to facilitate teamwork across departments.

This role will serve as a key facilitator to address the requests and expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, you will oversee high-level projects and coordinate complex and confidential information to aid decision-making, necessitating strict confidentiality regarding sensitive business and employee information.

You will be accountable for:

GUO Budget
  • Responsible for the AXA GUO Budget, taking a strategic perspective on the GUO financial plan to ensure long-term planning aligns with our Technical Excellence Plan. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
    • Developing a GUO Financial/Budget process to support the creation and management of the GUO Budget and Cost Centre owners (as applicable)
    • Collaborating with the GUO Leadership Team to establish the budget based on priorities and ensuring investment in key strategic initiatives.
    • Submitting the budget using planning tools and ensuring timelines are understood and met.
    • Managing accruals for the GUO and ensuring submissions align with AXA Group timelines.
    • Providing regular (monthly) and ad-hoc reporting to the GUO Leadership Team on actuals versus budget.
    • Proactively seeking savings through analysis to support reinvestment into GUO Technical Excellence priorities.
    • Tracking, monitoring, and reporting savings.
    • Partnering with the AXA CFO reporting Team to ensure budget comprehension.
    • Addressing ad-hoc questions and topics.
Support to Head of GUO Transformation & Operations

Additionally, you will assist the GUO Head of Operations and Engagement by providing administrative support to the GUO Transformation & Operations function, including:
    • Leading meetings and workshops with careful planning and coordination, ensuring clear agendas, outcomes, and minutes, while tracking deliverables. This may involve fostering collaboration across the Group's top management and their direct reports.
    • Steering strategic projects and initiatives from inception to completion within your scope.
    • Completing special projects and initiatives with oversight and support.
    • Identifying and addressing issues within operational processes and procedures.
    • Preparing and modifying documents, including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, presentations, and emails.
    • Establishing and leveraging a robust network of relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop coordinated views on GUO, Transformation & Operations Management topics.
    • Performing other duties as assigned.
Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting the GUO Head of Operations and Engagement with procurement and outsourced services as necessary, ensuring our strategic roadmap aligns with GUO Technical Excellence ambitions.
  • Plus additional tasks as required from time to time.

  • Fluent in English.
  • Spanish is a plus.
Experience
  • Experience in establishing and executing strategy at a regional/global level, preferably involving multiple organizations from different countries.
  • Proven experience interacting with senior leaders in matrixed environments.
  • Experience managing business unit budgets (5+ years).
  • Experience in procurement strategy (outsourcing, managed services, offshoring).
  • Experience using budgeting and reporting tools (Anaplan, PowerBI) is a plus.
