Overview

As a Scientific Relations Manager at Kyowa Kirin, you will play a key role in managing scientific relationships between the company and selected therapy area experts and academics. This is a non-promotional role that utilizes deep scientific expertise to proactively manage these relationships and support local Healthcare Professional needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a deep level of scientific knowledge on assigned Kyowa Kirin therapy areas and relevant treatment options to enable peer-to-peer scientific exchange.
  2. Foster and develop relationships with National Key External Experts (KEEs) to enhance their understanding of Kyowa Kirin's science and data, engage them in research where appropriate, and maintain a deep understanding of current thinking, insights, gaps, and needs of the clinical community.
  3. Respond to unsolicited enquiries from HCPs in a timely manner using expert knowledge, providing accurate, fair, balanced, and non-promotional scientific information/presentations relating to licensed and unlicensed indications.
  4. Maintain appropriate knowledge levels of the Patient Journey Manager team on the latest science and publications by delivering internal, therapy area, and on-label product training.
  5. Capture and share in-field insights to enhance Kyowa Kirin's understanding of the external healthcare environment and support medical and business strategy development.
  6. Play a role in key medical activities in line with the medical strategy, including planning and participating in advisory boards and clinical investigator meetings.
  7. Feed into the medical strategy with insight from the field and from peers in the global and regional Medical Affairs organization.
  8. Develop the medical plan, following the strategy, aligned and embedded into the cross-functional brand plan, by working with cross-functional colleagues in Sales, Marketing, and Payer Value & Patient Access.
  9. Creation of medical materials (e.g., literature reviews, medical letters, slide kits) and review/approval of medical and promotional materials.
  10. Take an active role in the design and delivery of Medical Education initiatives in partnership with the Patient Journey Manager role.
  11. Where appropriate, facilitate and promote innovative Medical activities involving the use of digital channels.
  12. Demonstrate a deep understanding of health policy, rare disease, and the pharmaceutical industry environment.
  13. Liaise with Clinical Operations & HEOR to contribute to the successful delivery of data generation activities, clinical development programs, and compassionate use programs.
  14. Attend selected international and local medical conferences to learn, gather insights, and provide scientific exchange.
  15. Support Corporate Affairs with Patient Organization collaborations where required.
  16. Timely and accurate use of the customer record management (CRM) system and submitting of managerial reports.
  17. Adhere to all company and regulatory compliance policies in word and in spirit, as well as to any applicable laws, codes, or guidelines.
Qualifications
  1. Scientific background (education or previous experience)
  2. Experience (of field role) in the pharmaceutical industry
  3. Excellent local language required; good English preferred
  4. Digital experience/expertise (Cx/Px strategy, Omnichannel implementation, and Virtual engagement)
  5. Extensive knowledge of local, regional, and national health systems and care delivery processes
Physical Requirements
  1. Travelling in territory – expected on a weekly basis
  2. At home and office-based computer use – email, Virtual meetings
  3. Driving – must hold a valid driving license
