The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is a leading non-profit organisation representing more than 100,000 cardiology professionals from around the world. With a mission to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease, the ESC provides innovative education, drives cutting-edge research, and sets standards for clinical practice through a vast network of subspecialty associations, working groups, and councils. We are seeking a strategic and dynamic **Director of ESC Associations, Working Groups and Councils**, to lead and coordinate the activities of our diverse and influential internal network. This role is essential to ensuring the successful management of operations, governance, and stakeholder engagement, while driving its mission forward in agreement with the ESC's vision and goals. The Director will work closely with leadership teams of each subspecialty association, working group, and council, as well as internal ESC Divisions and departments, to ensure the alignment of objectives with the broader goals of the ESC. The Director reports to the ESC CEO. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with a deep understanding of a non for profit and volunteer led organisation and strategic planning. **Key Responsibilities**: - **Governance & Compliance**: Ensure that all activities adhere to ESC governance structures, policies, and guidelines. - **Strategic Leadership**: Provide executive-level leadership to the ESC’s subspecialty associations, working groups, and councils, aligning their objectives with the strategic goals of the ESC. - **Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement**: Foster close relationships with association leaders, working groups, and councils to ensure smooth coordination of activities and initiatives. Act as the primary liaison between these bodies and the ESC's executive team. - **Operational Oversight and management**: Ensure that all working groups, associations, and councils are equipped with the necessary resources, support, and guidance to achieve their objectives and manage the teams (25 staff members) supporting the volunteers in their missions. - **Program Development**: Lead the development and implementation of innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the scientific, educational, and professional activities within each subspecialty group. - **Financial Stewardship**: Oversee the budgetary planning and financial management of the subspecialty groups, ensuring compliance and alignment with ESC's financial goals. - **Representation**: Represent the ESC at international meetings, congresses, and events related to the work of the subspecialty associations. **Qualifications and experience**: - Proven experience (8+ years) in association management, - Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and motivating teams in a complex, multidisciplinary environment and volunteer governance - Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders at all levels. - Experience in governance, budget management, and strategic planning. - Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy. - Fluent in English; additional European languages are an asset. - Demonstrable track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects or initiatives. - A background in healthcare, science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. **Location**: European Society of Cardiology, European Heart House (Sophia Antipolis, France).
