**ABOUT SDSN**

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has been operating since 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. We aim to accelerate joint learning and promote integrated approaches that address the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges confronting the world.

SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society. It is directed by Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs and operates through offices in New York, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur.

**ABOUT NETWORKS PROGRAM**

The Networks program of SDSN launched its first network in 2013 and has experienced continuous growth ever since, reaching over 1800-member institutions and 53 networks across 6 continents. SDSN’s National and Regional Networks promote the localization and implementation of the SDGs, develop long-term transformation pathways, provide education for sustainable development, and launch Solutions Initiatives to address challenges. Each network focuses on distinct projects and priorities in line with their local contexts and challenges.

The Head of the Networks team is a dynamic and multifaceted role that requires a combination of leadership, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. As the primary overseer of a team, they will play a pivotal role in guiding and directing the group towards the achievement the goals of the program. Also, the Head of the Networks team is responsible for fostering a collaborative and positive work environment, where team members can thrive and contribute their unique skills and perspectives.

One of the key responsibilities of a Head of the Networks team is to provide clear direction and set strategic objectives for the group. This involves aligning team goals with the strategic work program, overall mission, and vision of the organization, ensuring that every team member understands their role in contributing to the broader success of SDSN. The Head of the Networks team must possess strong communication skills to articulate these goals effectively and inspire a shared sense of purpose among team members. Finally, they will be contributing to building a strong team by recruiting, developing, and retaining talent. This includes providing mentorship as well as conducting performance evaluations and addressing any issues that may arise within the team.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop and manage national and regional networks through technical support, and organizational and administrative support;
- Build the capacity of network managers and ensure support to the consolidation of the network;
- Manage the Networks team, including overseeing implementation of global activities, coordination across offices and ensuring overall team motivation and effectiveness;
- Support the Vice President of Networks in the search for funding for the program and budget management;
- Contribute to the activities of the Secretariat (research, strategy, communication, fundraising etc.)

**QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 8 years combined relevant experience.
- Successful record of project management, including the ability to motivate others and the flexibility to respond to changing priorities in fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage partnerships and client relationships at senior level.
- Advanced degree in economics, development, natural sciences, engineering, business or related discipline.
- Outstanding English oral and written communication skills. Full proficiency desirable in one or more other languages.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

Location: Paris. The office has a hybrid model of work with 2-3 days at the office.
