**Salary**: 51350€ Annual Gross salary (paid in 13 months instalments of 3950€)

**About the Sir John Monash Centre (SJMC)**

The SJMC is a state-of-the-art multimedia centre that tells the story of Australia’s role and sacrifice on the Western Front during the First World War, through a series of immersive experiences, cutting-edge technology and personal stories. Located near Villers-Bretonneux, the SJMC was opened in April 2018 on the site of the Australian National Memorial and adjacent to the Villers-Bretonneux military cemetery.

**About the Position**

This position is based at the Sir John Monash Centre in Fouilloy, in the Somme department (France) and reports directly to the Director Sir John Monash Centre. The Australian Government, through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and the Australian Embassy Paris, is recruiting an Operations Manager to support the Centre Director and Deputy Director.
- In close coordination with the Centre Director and Deputy Director, manage all maintenance and technical operations of the Centre and the Australian National Memorial grounds, including but not limited to managing all maintenance contracts and contractors and negotiating annual contract renewals when due.
- Working closely with existing contractors, constantly monitor the performance of all audio-visual and multimedia displays and trouble-shoot as issues arise. Ensure routine maintenance of the displays is undertaken and that any defective equipment is repaired and/or replaced, with mínimal to no impact on the visitor experience.
- Monitor the performance of the Centre’s technical equipment (including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and electrical installations), and when required, identify the source of faults and manage their rectification.
- Manage ad-hoc projects with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) and ensure the upkeep of the Australian National Memorial, all other Australian memorials on the Western Front and military cemetery grounds in close cooperation and coordination with the CWGC and the DVA Overseas Memorials team based in Canberra.
- Actively support and assist DVA Canberra and the Centre Director with the planned technology and content upgrade, with a focus on the technical perspective.
- Maintain the SJMC’s asset management and ticketing system and ensure it is continually updated with both technical and cost information as maintenance works progress.
- Manage the health and safety procedures for the Centre and ensure identified hazards, near misses and incidents are reported and acted upon.
- Coordinate the evacuation of visitors and Centre staff in the event of an emergency.
- Appropriately balance the ability to work autonomously, with an ability to work as part of a geographically dispersed team.

**Qualifications/ Experience**
- Demonstrated understanding of the technical and legal management of complex public buildings (ERP).
- Minimum five years’ demonstrated experience in facilities and contract management.
- Experience with highly technical audio-visual displays and systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to deadlines with virtual teams and with minimum supervision.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and French relevant to facilities management.

**Additional Requirements**
- French Driver’s licence.
- SSIAP 1 and CACES desirable.
