The Institute of Medical Biometry and Bioinformatics is looking to recruit a

IT system administrator / system administrator (m/f/d),
full-time and permanent

The Institute of Medical Biometry and Bioinformatics conducts research and teaching on algorithms and software tools for genome research (). We address the challenges posed by the latest sequencing technologies and the large amounts of data they generate. We apply the developed software in local projects as well as international consortia to study human genetic diversity and the impact of genetic variants on health and disease. We use and develop open source software and use Linux on most devices.

What are your main tasks?
  • Independent operation and maintenance of the institute's IT equipment
  • Technical support for employees
  • Employee training on security and data protection issues
  • Advice and assistance with software development and maintenance
  • Future-oriented planning and procurement of hardware and software
What do we expect?
  • Completed university degree (Bachelor) in bioinformatics or related subject areas or university degree in computer science or related subject areas
  • Very good knowledge of Linux system administration
  • Good programming skills, e.g. in Python, Rust, C++, and/or R.
  • Fluent communication in German and English
  • Knowledge of the use of high-performance computing (HPC) systems is desirable" is replaced by "Knowledge of virtualization solutions and container technologies (Docker, Singularity, etc.)
