Data Privacy Counsel
As part of the reorganization of its legal department and in a context of international growth, iCOVER is looking for a Data Privacy and Compliance Counsel whose main missions will be to:
Manage within the legal Department and the associated existing team (1 compliance officer, 1 commercial and compliance counsel) all Data Privacy related topics for the whole Group;
Work in close collaboration with the group's other departments, some of which also have legal resources;
Represent the company externally (clients, partners, network) on matters of Data Privacy in particular.
Based in Paris and reporting to the CEO, the Data Privacy Counsel’s mission is to defend the interests of iCOVER while ensuring compliance with legal rules in the context of its commercial, administrative and financial activities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Privacy :
Monitoring and improvement of the iCOVER existing data privacy program regarding :
Protection of personal data for all subsidiaries controlled by iCOVER, including data mapping, allocation of responsibilities, training and awareness raising, cooperation with the authorities in the event of an inspection and being the point of contact in the event of a question raised by the authorities, the clients and/or the partners,
Risk mapping, risk limit plan, training of employees regarding the legal obligations imposed by the group,
Communicating data privacy standards and procedures to all employees and other agents, through training programs and publications.
Endorsing the role of DPO for the company.
Legal searches
Responding to consultation requests from operational stakeholders of iCOVER on various issues (regulations, business law, tax law, intellectual property law, commercial law, litigation, etc.);
Proposing legal solutions in the event of operational constraints;
Alerting management to the legal risks linked to the exercise of their activities and their orientations.
Issuing a legal opinion regarding the conformity of products marketed by all subsidiaries controlled by iCOVER; and issue a methodology to be followed by the teams to develop compliant products.
Additionally, provides knowledge of judicial system and related legal terminology.
With growing challenges on compliance matters, you will also act as a support to our Compliance Counsel, on the following missions :
Monitoring policies and practices to ensure compliance with the organization’s global privacy, audit, and legal compliance functions (compliance with federal, national and local laws; compliance with corporation’s accreditations and certifications, mostly PBSA and ISO; Internal and external; Reporting findings and recommendations to executive management.
Communicating compliance standards and procedures to all employees and other agents, through training programs and publications.
Contributing in the organization’s knowledge of compliance.
As a member of a fast growing organization, your role and missions may evolve depending on your aspirations, motivation and interests, and the group’s needs. A thirst for knowledge and interest in other fields of the law such as contract management or litigation would be a plus.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of experience in the areas of data privacy and/or background screening industry
Ability to represent the company externally
In-depth knowledge of different areas of law
Ability to analyze and interpret questions and prepare opinions
Collect, evaluate and analyze data using various approaches
Business acumen and good judgment on the next action to take
Ability to identify gaps and understand business needs
Anticipation and resolution of risky situations
