Lead Product Manager for Cosmetic Ingredients

Symrise is in search of a seasoned and proactive Senior Product Manager to spearhead our cutting-edge cosmetic ingredient Micro Protection portfolio. This position involves overseeing business growth, strategic initiatives, and project oversight, including the management of a junior Product Manager. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the cosmetic sector, especially in preservatives, along with exceptional leadership and communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Portfolio Oversight:

- Formulate and execute long-term strategies and annual operational plans.
- Track and report on sales performance, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Remain informed about cosmetic market dynamics to facilitate product range expansion.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, particularly on social media platforms, to highlight Symrise's expertise.

Product Development and Management:

- Drive initiatives to create new products and improve existing offerings.
- Address daily portfolio-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Sales, R&D, Raw Material Management, Regulatory Affairs, Product Safety, Patent, Production, Planning, Quality Control, and other departments.
- Oversee technical projects at various client locations in partnership with sales teams and testing laboratories.

Marketing and Communication Strategies:

- Generate relevant product documentation such as brochures, presentations, quick reference sheets, and advertisements in collaboration with the marketing team.
- Conduct presentations for clients and at conferences to promote the product line.
- Engage in technology scouting, particularly focusing on anti-microbial agents.

Coordination of Technical Studies:

- Oversee preservative efficacy tests (PET) and other evaluations such as biofilm activity, minimum inhibitory concentration, and time-kill studies with microbiological laboratories.
- Supervise studies aimed at enhancing the value of existing ingredients beyond their antimicrobial capabilities.

Team Leadership:

- Manage and mentor a junior Product Manager.
- Cultivate a collaborative and innovative team atmosphere.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should possess a high-level degree in Chemical Science, with additional qualifications in marketing or business management being beneficial. They should have substantial experience in the cosmetic industry, particularly with expertise in preservatives utilized in personal care products. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is crucial, along with strong IT skills, especially in MS-Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). The candidate must demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective collaboration in multicultural teams within an international context. Furthermore, they should have a proven history of managing multiple and complex technical projects efficiently.
