Senior Business Management Leader

As a pivotal member of our organization, you will oversee the Business Management division, which is dedicated to nurturing business partnerships with our current commercial clientele to enhance service delivery and satisfaction while aligning with the company's overarching goals. The Senior Manager of Business Management possesses extensive expertise in client and business needs, adeptly identifying solutions through effective management of the Business Management team. Your role will involve cultivating robust foundational relationships with business accounts and strategically assigning the Business Management team to these clients to drive growth by uncovering and developing new business prospects, collaborating with Sales, and ensuring the successful execution of Technology Transfers.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary leader in site business operations, advocating for client interests while optimizing the financial performance of the site. Collaborate closely with the General Manager to steer the site in accordance with company values, policies, and client agreements. Actively participate in the site's Leadership Team and represent the business sector in internal business review processes. Serve as the escalation point for urgent requirements, prioritization, and decision-making. Work in conjunction with business and project teams to guarantee top-tier service for clients. Ensure prompt resolution of issues and maintain timely and accurate communication. Partner with the Business Development team to ensure a steady influx of new business opportunities and a smooth transition of responsibilities to site Business Management teams. Lead the Business Management team to ensure adherence to expected service levels and facilitate the appropriate exchange of planning and technical information concerning client needs. Drive engagement in the Client Allegiance Score (CAS) program, formulate action plans, and manage the escalation process. Maintain up-to-date commercial client forecasts within the Demand process, incorporating market intelligence. Ensure the team evaluates forecasts for new products and projects, integrating them into Demand and/or Long Range Plans as necessary. Understand Thermo Fisher's financial commitments and collaborate with Finance to ensure compliance. Contribute to the Strategic Action Plan (STRAP) and ongoing forecasting efforts. Oversee the completion and delivery of annual pricing updates by the Business Management team to clients in accordance with the Master Services Agreement (MSA). Ensure all MSA stipulations are fulfilled, including pricing, payment terms, renewals, and yield reconciliations. Guarantee the generation of Quality Agreements and assess their commercial implications. Ensure the team conducts commercial evaluations and generates/negotiates quotations for technical modifications and additional services requested by customers. Collaborate closely with project managers to take charge of tech transfer projects upon validation. Communicate critical issues to the VP of Business Management and facilitate efficient resolutions through collaboration with the site leadership team. Coordinate site business activities with Business Development, Finance, Quotations, and other internal departments. Develop growth plans for Business Managers based on identified competency gaps and in support of employee career aspirations. Regularly analyze and assess results to ensure competency development, high performance levels, and motivation, utilizing a coaching and mentoring approach. Formulate solution-oriented recommendations swiftly and effectively using site and regional resources. Address personnel matters promptly. Ensure compliance with all business management policies and procedures. Negotiate site business matters to achieve optimal outcomes for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Science, Finance, or Business is required. An MBA is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. At least 5 years of experience in managing direct reports. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Proficient understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and outsourcing. Exceptional client service orientation, interpersonal skills, and business acumen. Proven project management experience in a dynamic environment. Strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Leadership skills or the ability to lead effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to mentor individuals in effective communication with senior leadership.
