Financial Reporting Standards Advisor

Job Overview

The Reporting Center of Excellence serves as an internal consultancy team dedicated to:
  • Developing and managing the content related to accounting principles for various annual and interim reports (including URD, Half-Year Report, and Climate Report);
  • Evaluating external disclosures to provide a secondary review and ensure compliance with statutory financial publications;
  • Preparing presentations for the Group Executive Committee (COMEX) and Group Audit Committee on intricate accounting transactions and external reporting, while also contributing to governance processes concerning the Group-wide accounts;
  • Analyzing complex transactions in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards, reviewing business documentation, and drafting relevant accounting memos in collaboration with business units and local teams;
  • Spearheading the ongoing development and integration of sustainability reporting into audit-ready processes, leveraging financial reporting best practices to support the implementation of CSRD within SCOR;
  • Monitoring developments in IFRS 17 and local accounting standards, assessing their implications, and coordinating lobbying efforts related to IFRS or other financial matters;
  • Designing and delivering IFRS training sessions for the finance community;
  • Formulating and documenting SCOR's accounting interpretations and positions.

The CoE frequently engages in projects that affect financial reporting.

The Senior IFRS and Reporting Manager will take the lead on specific topics and assist the Reporting CoE team in fulfilling these responsibilities through collaboration with other team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of the Center of Excellence in coordinating, producing, and presenting accounting analyses for COMEX and Audit Committee presentations (both ad hoc and quarterly);
  • Lead investigations and resolutions of IFRS/local GAAP/S2 accounting inquiries and issues through comprehensive fact-finding, technical research, and application of existing SCOR accounting guidelines; and provide support through knowledge-sharing initiatives led by other CoE team members;
  • Collaborate proactively with all finance teams, legal entities, and Business Units on IFRS 17 or local GAAP accounting matters, whether raised by Group entities or by the Group Finance Team (contributing to long-term transversal projects or agile responses, such as quarterly issue resolution);
  • Oversee the documentation and communication of various accounting issues addressed and the accounting policies, ensuring timely updates and continuous improvements as necessary;
  • Draft and implement suitable finance policies and procedures for the generation of externally reported information;
  • Stay informed about IFRS developments, actively monitoring changes and contributing to impact assessments of accounting and reporting advancements and potential modifications for the Group, assisting in activities related to the CFO Forum;
  • Aid in the preparation and delivery of IFRS training sessions to ensure that the global finance team is well-trained and maintains essential IFRS knowledge;
  • Contribute to the URD and HYR processes (producing relevant content, reviewing, and providing feedback on draft reports).

Qualifications

Required Experience & Competencies:
  • Knowledge of the (re)insurance industry; actuarial or accounting background;
  • Experience in auditing and analyzing consolidated financial statements;
  • Familiarity with accounting or regulatory standards and projects;
  • 7 to 12 years of experience in a Big 4 firm and/or comparable industry experience.

Required Education
  • University degree, business school, or equivalent "Bac+5" qualification.
