Commercial Operations Director

PEAK LIFECYCLES HR is an international Executive Search and Talent Management Company dedicated to Global "Care" markets and their stakeholders. Our client, a leading biotech company headquartered in Switzerland, seeks a high-level contributor to lead the team.

Main Objectives:
  • Manage the Commercial Excellence team, providing advice, guidance and support to achieve the company's strategic objectives
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to ensure compliance and competitiveness
  • Foster strong collaboration with various departments (Commercial Operations, Medical, Digital, Market Access), aligned also with the European commercial excellence community
  • Correlate activity data with sales metrics and other performance indicators to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Define a sales policy for hospitals and retail pharmacies (direct sales) in collaboration with the Commercial operations department, to maintain an average price level in line with the approved budget
  • Be responsible for the customer service department as a whole, in particular overseeing the processing of hospital tenders and negotiated contracts (from sourcing to the submission of response files within the set deadlines, under the strategy defined to achieve the annual sales targets in units and turnover)
  • Establish a one-stop shop for external customers
  • Propose adaptations to the organization to accommodate growth, particularly the increase in the number of external customers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, in particular the Sales and Finance Operations Departments, to align sales strategies with corporate objectives
  • Analyze competitive market trends and customer information to identify opportunities and risks, and develop proactive strategies accordingly
  • Review and manage current and future partnership service delivery cost structures, and performance metrics and implement continuous improvement measures in agreement with Management
  • Work with strategic partners to strengthen alliances and explore new collaboration opportunities while ensuring the successful delivery and continuity of activities and projects
  • Liaise with Executive Management and all departments to ensure smooth communication and informed decision-making
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Strong experience in commercial excellence, sales force, and channel effectiveness
  • Higher education in business or engineering. An MBA would be an advantage
  • At least 10 years of significant experience in the operational management of commercial departments (Marketing, Sales, BUs, Commercial Excellence) in multinational companies
  • Very good understanding of pharmaceutical market dynamics, sector regulations, and customer knowledge
  • Proven experience in launching new products
  • Successful experience in setting up an Excellence Operations department and implementing systems
  • Proven experience in supervising external sales force providers and co-promotion
  • Data analysis skills focused on execution and variance management
  • Experienced operational management leader, primarily supporting sales operations as well as other Group departments and functions
  • Proven expertise in sales forecasting
  • Ability to work on and solve complex problems, particularly when the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth assessment of the environment integrating several factors
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make evidence-based decisions
  • Ability to work at a high level, within defined practices and policies, to select methods, policies, and evaluation criteria to achieve results
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in operational excellence and quality management
  • Strong business vision
  • Mastery of negotiation techniques with a 'team player' approach to ensure optimum management of internal and external stakeholders
