CONTEXT:
The Technology and Technical Support Business Division (T&TS) is dedicated to delivering sustainable, low-carbon solutions that are efficient in terms of technology, processes, catalysts, and services across all domains of Axens' operations, including Biomass & Oil Hydroprocessing, Petrochemical production, Gas and Water Treatment, and CO2 capture. This division is responsible for ensuring optimal performance in our clients' units and maintaining the competitiveness of our offerings in a challenging market. The technologist role bridges technical support for sales, enhances client performance, and guides R&D initiatives.
Within this division, the Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration Product Line focuses on technologies and products for Renewable Diesel, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Clean Fuels, Petrochemical Feedstocks, and Specialty Products. Our teams consist of highly skilled engineers dedicated to the following missions:
- Crafting, clarifying, and defending technical proposals (technologies and/or catalysts) in response to tenders, designing new units, modifying existing assets, or replacing products.
- Providing technical assistance to our clients for operational units.
- Promoting Axens' technologies and services through strategic marketing initiatives.
- Adapting and evolving Axens' offerings within the technologists' areas of expertise, safeguarding our knowledge and know-how.
We are seeking a Hydroprocessing Proposal Engineer (M/F) to join our Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration Product Line. This role involves close collaboration with Commercial Business Divisions and interaction with various Axens entities. The position requires expertise in Hydroprocessing of diverse feedstocks, including renewable materials and circular economy sources, with a willingness to travel internationally.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
In the Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing Group, the Hydroprocessing Proposal Engineer will be responsible for:
- Assessing customer needs and competitive landscapes to deliver optimal technical solutions.
- Developing technical proposals (technologies and/or catalysts) in response to tenders, estimating performance, making technology selections, and proposing technical guarantees.
- Supporting Regional Sales Managers in preparing and defending offers to clients, contributing to commercial success.
- Promoting Axens' technologies, catalysts, and services through effective marketing strategies, including presentations and marketing materials.
- Maintaining ongoing technical relationships with clients through performance reviews and on-site visits.
- Conducting on-site missions for performance testing, inspections, catalyst replacements, and troubleshooting.
- Participating in the collection and analysis of plant data to enhance operational efficiency.
- Leading or contributing to conceptual studies or projects for clients, including optimization and energy efficiency studies.
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should possess a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a solid understanding of processes and/or catalysis, and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in process design, refining/chemical plant operations, or catalyst fields. Knowledge of Hydroprocessing is advantageous.
Proficiency in design and equipment sizing using simulation software (e.g., ProII, Hysis) is a plus. Fluency in English is essential for this role.
SKILLS:
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teamwork abilities, excellent listening skills for effective communication with clients and Axens entities, and the capacity to build relationships and persuade stakeholders, particularly in commercial support activities. Candidates should be analytical, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate technical solutions and provide follow-up support effectively.
