Your Role:

We are in search of a seasoned and innovative Lead Propulsion Systems Architect to become a vital member of our energetic team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in the conception, development, and integration of cutting-edge propulsion systems, with a particular emphasis on our premier hybrid propulsion solution, STERNA. This role demands an extensive comprehension of hybrid-electric propulsion technologies, system architecture, and aerospace engineering fundamentals. Additionally, it encompasses product stewardship, ensuring the effective implementation of STERNA in collaboration with external aircraft manufacturers.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Directing the design and development of the STERNA hybrid propulsion system tailored for both new and existing aircraft platforms.
  • Establishing system specifications, architecture, and interfaces for propulsion components, which include engines, electric motors, batteries, and control systems, with a strong emphasis on the integration of thermal engines.
  • Supervising the incorporation of the STERNA propulsion system into the overall aircraft framework, guaranteeing optimal performance, safety, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Overseeing product stewardship duties, concentrating on the deployment of STERNA within third-party aircraft, ensuring compatibility and performance excellence.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including aerodynamics, avionics, structures, and manufacturing, to facilitate seamless integration and alignment of the STERNA propulsion system with aircraft specifications.
  • Conducting trade studies, simulations, and analyses to assess the performance, efficiency, and reliability of the STERNA propulsion system.
  • Keeping informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments to ensure that Ascendance Flight Technologies remains at the forefront of propulsion system innovation.
  • Preparing and delivering technical reports, proposals, and documentation to both internal and external stakeholders.

This Position Is Ideal For You If You Possess:

  • A Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in propulsion system integration, particularly in hybrid-electric or electric propulsion technologies, or a proven history of integrating thermal engines in demanding environments.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead complex propulsion projects from initial concept through to implementation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of propulsion system components, particularly thermal engines, electric motors, batteries, power electronics, and control systems.
  • Experience in product stewardship and the integration of propulsion systems within third-party aircraft is highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proficiency in simulation and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ANSYS).
  • Excellent project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
