Laval Agglomération is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Food and Agriculture to lead our commitment to sustainable practices and community well-being.

As a major urban center in Mayenne, Laval boasts a vibrant economy, high quality of life, and diverse landscape encompassing both urban areas and agricultural spaces. Our elected officials have prioritized an ambitious ecological transition policy, particularly focusing on food systems, agriculture, and water management.

Your Role
  • Lead the Food and Agriculture Department: Oversee all aspects of the department, including the catering service, mission officer, and collaboration with the GEMAPI syndicate.
  • Champion Ecological Transition: Implement sustainable practices across all food-related initiatives and promote environmentally responsible agriculture.
  • Develop Strategic Direction: Propose and execute strategic plans for food systems, agriculture, and water management within Laval Agglomération.
  • Advance the Territorial Food Project: Spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan to enhance local food production and distribution.
  • Manage Projects and Resources: Oversee projects, studies, and construction initiatives, including the development of a new central kitchen. Effectively manage financial, technical, and human resources within the department.
  • Foster Collaboration: Organize and lead dedicated instances, monitor activities, and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to legal obligations and regulations governing food safety, agriculture, and water management.
  • Stay Informed: Continuously engage with professional networks and industry trends to remain at the forefront of best practices in food systems and sustainable development.
  • Provide Reporting and Insights: Regularly report to the department director and contribute to the overall municipal administration project by providing valuable insights and recommendations.
Your Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a proven track record in similar roles. You possess a deep understanding of local government operations, food systems, agriculture, and water cycle management. Your strong leadership skills enable you to effectively manage teams and guide strategic initiatives.

  • Significant experience in a comparable role within the public sector or related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local government procedures and regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of food systems, agricultural practices, and water resource management.
  • Exceptional managerial and team leadership abilities.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic decision support to elected officials.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
