Summary / Role Purpose:

The Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer becomes a vital member of the Ansys Licensing team, tasked with the software evaluation of Licensing API and Cloud-based services.

This position employs advanced engineering and software expertise to evaluate how effectively these services fulfill customer functionality and usability requirements while ensuring compliance with standards and quality benchmarks.

The Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer collaborates closely with other development team members and engages with technical experts to identify and resolve challenges.

The Ansys Licensing team is dedicated to creating and delivering web-based licensing solutions to support an expanding user base, enabling customers to efficiently manage and utilize their licensed products, and to provide user access to account-related data.

These services are critical to business operations and necessitate meticulous and comprehensive testing to ensure they meet, and continue to meet, the rigorous demands of our clientele.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define and document test cases; create, modify, and update testing protocols; develop and maintain test scripts.
  • Establish and uphold suites of API tests to validate development modifications and confirm compliance with API specifications.
  • Collaborate with developers to uncover edge cases and guarantee service excellence.
  • Conduct functional, application, regression, and performance testing in both manual and automated environments.
  • Oversee regression and continuous performance tests; identify and escalate issues for resolution.
  • Formulate test plans and contribute to testing initiatives, review coverage analysis and testing metrics in specific domains, and engage in defect management.
  • Utilize technical and professional knowledge in specialized areas to investigate complex product issues and challenges.
  • Analyze product specifications and develop tests for new functionalities.
  • Coordinate with other Licensing teams to ensure comprehensive end-to-end testing coverage.
  • Synchronize testing efforts with application testing teams utilizing Licensing services.
  • Operate in diverse computing environments: Windows, Linux, Virtual Machines, Cloud.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5 years of experience, Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD with one year of experience.
  • Proficient computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful API, JSON schemas, and sustainable testing methodologies, along with the requirements for maintaining business-critical services.
  • Practical experience with JavaScript/Typescript and/or JS testing frameworks (e.g., Mocha), including the use and testing of APIs.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • Exceptional technical knowledge and commercial experience in testing distributed services, Swagger/OpenAPI specifications, and testing within an Agile development framework, as well as familiarity with Azure tools and resources (Log Analytics, Application Insights, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes, etc.), Python, and Python-based testing tools.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality products within a large-scale commercial organization.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools utilized in this domain.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
