The ideal candidate will be hands-on, possess a keen eye for detail, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a complex business environment. This role is critical to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of More Development, providing strategic financial insights and guidance to support our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, and fixed assets register.
- Accounting and Financial Reporting: Maintain accounting system and financial records for multiple entities, monitor and supervise reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and manage cash flows.
- Accounts Payable and Cash Management: Manage accounts payable and process all payments in line with the Company's approval and signatory matrix.
- Financial Close and Reporting: Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process by producing management and financial reports across all entities with budget vs. actual variance commentary.
- Management Presentations and Funding Requests: Prepare management presentations and funding request documentation for all entities.
- Annual Financial Statements and Audit: Prepare annual financial statements and liaise directly with external auditors.
- Tax Compliance: Work with external tax advisors to complete and submit relevant tax returns.
- Internal Controls and Quality Assurance: Monitor internal controls related to financial reporting, ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Insurance and Risk Management: Oversee and maintain all insurance policies, including regular review of values and limits.
- Business Processes and Accounting Policies: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Government Filings and Reporting: Monitor and ensure that all relevant government filings and reporting is completed on time across all entities and compliant with government regulations.
- Corporate Records and Statutory Filings: Maintain all corporate records and supervise statutory corporate and fiscal filings in accordance with French legislation requirements.
- Strategic Goals and Business Risks: Coordinate with the General Manager and Ownership in meeting strategic goals of the organization, including monitoring and improving the hotel's operational costs, profitability, and managing business risks.
- Chartered Accountant or Equivalent: Chartered accountant or equivalent accounting experience with a degree in accounting.
- Experience in Hospitality: 7+ years of experience in accounting, tax, and corporate management in a hospitality environment, preferably including projects in construction and opening stages.
- Complex Tax Structures: Demonstrates the ability to run accounting, finance, and tax function while preserving complex tax structures.
- IT Proficiency: High IT proficiency with hospitality accounting, point-of-sale, property-management-system, and inventory management systems, preferably with NetSuite experience.
- Time and Resource Management: Exceptional time, task, and resource management skills.
- Problem-Solving and Communication: Ability to plan for and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines, strong problem-solving, critical thinking, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: High level of interpersonal skills, discretion, confidentiality, and ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English and French.
