Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Acceptance & Independence Officer to join our team at Mazars. As a key member of our Acceptance Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the independence and acceptance of our clients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Acceptance Group, reporting directly to the Director in charge.
  • Review and respond to complex questions from countries, escalating as needed to the Director.
  • Prepare source material for training sessions and webinars, and participate in presentations.
  • Supervise the compilation of Restricted Client Listings, Annual Independence Declarations, and SEC Independence Declarations.
  • Review cases submitted on the GIAC Tool and escalate to GIAC members, managing responses and reporting decisions.
  • Coordinate the annual completeness audit, ensuring countries have complied with required GIAC approval procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date guidance on sanctions, including current lists of sanctioned entities.
  • Update acceptance content for the Global Policy Manual and the Mazars' Code of Conduct for Objectivity and Independence.
  • Follow the evolution of International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) guidance, communicating to countries and updating Mazars guidance as required.
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for GIAC meetings and sub-committee meetings.
  • Prepare quarterly newsletters for review.
  • Ensure controls identified as part of ISQM 1 procedures are operating effectively, liaising with internal audit and providing support for testing.
  • Manage the reporting of escalations to Forvis Mazars USA in accordance with the agreed process.
  • Liaise with the US desk for approval of new SEC/PCAOB audit clients.
  • Update independence declaration forms and acceptance questionnaires annually.
  • Review opportunities for automating the acceptance questionnaire.
  • Train and develop junior members of the team.
  • Participate in key projects launched by Acceptance Group, including Personal Financial Interests.
Requirements
  • University/College Graduate.
  • First relevant experience (2 years) with knowledge of Acceptance & Independence issues in accounting firms.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, and other languages an advantage.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation tools.
  • Ability to sort and organize data, with a desire to deal with new digital tools.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Problem solver/innovation attitude.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-growing Group.
  • Team player.
  • Organized and proactive.
