FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) is a global NGO dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights since 1922. We are committed to upholding civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

As a federation comprising 188 national and regional human rights organizations across 116 countries, we believe that societal transformation is primarily the responsibility of local actors. Our initiatives aim to enhance their capacity for action and influence.

The International Secretariat of FIDH is a compact organization with a dedicated international team (49 employees in France and 20 employees in various international offices including Belgium, Geneva, The Hague, and Bangkok).

The FIDH office in Brussels plays a crucial role in representing FIDH to the European Union institutions (Council, Commission, European Parliament, and other associated entities). It ensures the visibility of FIDH's actions and those of its member organizations towards the European Union, proposes advocacy strategies to effectively mobilize the EU on global human rights issues, and suggests methods to enhance the EU's engagement.

We are seeking a: HEAD OF CAMPAIGNS (M/F) - Full-time permanent position

In this role, you will work within the Communications Department under the guidance of the Communications Director. The Head of Campaigns will coordinate communication initiatives linked to current events from the geographical and thematic desks of the Operations and Advocacy Departments, while also managing two to three annual or multi-year FIDH campaigns.

Your Responsibilities:

Oversight of Communication Initiatives and Campaigns

  • Define and oversee the design and execution of FIDH's communication initiatives and campaigns;
  • Establish objectives for each operation/campaign to foster both financial (fundraising) and non-financial (awareness-raising and mobilization) commitments, selecting suitable media, targets, tools, and content;
  • Supervise collaboration with communication agencies, from the design and drafting of calls for tender to implementation, evaluation, and reporting;
  • Ensure campaigns align with FIDH's image and strategy, reflecting the aspirations of member organizations and the vision of the FIDH International Bureau;
  • Coordinate campaigns with FIDH member organizations and partners.

Management and Coordination

  • Lead a team that includes a digital communications manager, a campaign manager, an intern, and occasional service providers;
  • Coordinate content production with the Head of Press and Editorial, as well as the fundraising and advocacy departments: establish key messages, validate publications on social media, etc.;
  • Assist in managing the communications budget and overseeing the administration of service providers and consultants;
  • Analyze the outcomes of operations and campaigns and contribute to reporting.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional writing abilities in English (preferably native) and French, with strong analytical and summarization skills; Spanish is a plus.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing campaigns aimed at the general public across various media.
  • Solid understanding of diverse communication channels, particularly social media.
  • Familiarity with design software and SEO techniques.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and independent.
  • Strong diplomatic and consensus-building skills.
  • Creative and proactive.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a strategic perspective.

Your Profile:

  • Master's degree in communication, journalism, political science, human sciences, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in an NGO, communications agency, international organization, media, or political office, either in France or abroad. International experience is advantageous.
  • At least one prior management experience (experience in a multilingual and multicultural context is a plus).
  • Political awareness and activist sensitivity, with knowledge of geopolitical issues and the human rights landscape.

Employment Terms:

  • Permanent contract based in Paris.
  • Competitive remuneration starting from 46K€ gross per annum over 13 months.
  • Teleworking options available with a minimum of 4 in-person days per month.
