The American University of Paris is seeking applications for a full-time role in the Department of Economics and Management at the rank of Lecturer in Management.

Qualifications: A PhD in Management, Organizational Behavior, Organization Studies, or a closely related discipline is essential at the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong record or potential for excellence in teaching, institutional service, scholarly research, and publication in the fields of management, organizational behavior, organization studies, or a related area. Candidates who have completed their coursework for a PhD but have not yet defended their dissertation, while possessing a robust teaching, service, or research agenda, may also be considered. The successful applicant should be adept at teaching management courses such as Foundations of Management, Strategic Management, and Organizational Behavior at both undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to specialized courses. Preference will be given to those who can instruct in at least two of the following specialized areas: marketing, sustainability management, NGO & mission-based management, management of complexity, business ethics, project management, operations management, or entrepreneurship.

Experience in a liberal arts environment and an interest in contributing to AUP's core curriculum in areas such as digital literacy, experiential learning, and integrative inquiry are highly valued. Faculty members at AUP are expected to uphold a commitment to liberal arts education within a highly international context and to engage in interdisciplinary education and research. The university provides support and mentorship for new faculty, including a course release during the initial year of appointment. As a full-time faculty member, the candidate will be required to teach six courses per academic year and demonstrate a commitment to scholarship and high-quality interdisciplinary teaching. A suitable candidate will also be expected to engage in curricular development and innovation, student advising, pedagogical assessment, and institutional service at both the department and university levels, including key leadership roles such as department chair, graduate program director, or committee chair.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach six courses per academic year.
  • Provide academic advising and professional mentorship to students.
  • Commit to scholarly research.
  • Engage in service to the department, including curricular development and innovation.
  • Participate in university service through committee work, assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Engage in faculty governance, including attending faculty, department, and committee meetings.
  • Collaborate professionally and collegially with the university community.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty Manual.

Faculty at AUP must demonstrate a commitment to liberal arts education in a highly international environment and pursue international research and scholarship. We seek engaged scholars with high expectations for teaching and scholarly research.
