Research Engineer in The Field of Surface Analysis

The job proposed is located inside the Metallic Coatings and Surfaces (MCS) cluster that is attached to both Process and Product research centers. This cluster of about 70 people deals with process developments (technologies, models, knowledge) and with product developments (metallic coatings, surface treatments). This cluster also includes corrosion and surface analysis expertise. The position open is related to the field of surfaces analysis : support to requesters through orientations on the adequate technics and analytical parameters, planning organization, deadlines management, data interpretations and summarizing, writing of internal reports and reporting in projects reviews.

You will have the opportunity to work with people having numerous competencies (metallurgy, metallic coatings by hot dip galvanization or physical vapour deposition, corrosion, gaz-metal reactions during continuous annealing, surface treatments,...).

**Your role**

You will ensure a role of Operational Engineer for daily operating of the surface analysis platform along with the other Senior engineer of the team. You will manage internal requests in the field of surfaces analysis : support to requesters through orientations on the adequate technics and analytical parameters, planning organization, deadlines management, data interpretations and summarizing, writing of internal reports and reporting in projects reviews.

The main missions are the following:

- Support the development of the Glow Discharge Optical Electron Spectroscopy (GDOES) technic and help to implement the news functionnalities brought by the new GDOES equipement (DIP, Deuterium Analysis, Semi quantification,..),
- Proactively act for the setting up and the development of a pluri-technical operating approach consisting in mixing different surfaces analysis technics to adress a given request
- Encourage interactions between the different analysis tools and referent technicians,
- Perform technical watch on analytical tools (along with the referent technicians),
- Ensure the delivery of high quality results (quality management and ISO norms compliance of daily operations).

The activities are followed during weekly meetings with the whole team.

**Your profile**
- You hold a Masters' degree and/or a PhD in the field of Material Science, Applied Chemistry with high skills in Surface analysis.
- Any previous experience in steel industry/ chemist industry would be an asset, especially in surface analysis.
- You are advanced in French and in English.
- You are persevering, creative and a source of proposals in your work.
- You are able to manage several projects in parallel.
- You have skills in Teamwork.
- You are organized and rigorous in the reporting of your work and respect of deadlines.
