SuperGrid Institute brings together 180 employees of 28 different nationalities who work together within a dynamic environment in the city of Lyon. As an independent research and innovation centre, we are dedicated to developing technologies for the future power transmission system, the “supergrid”, including HVDC & MVDC technologies.
**General Context**:
Program “Power Electronics & Converters” addresses power electronic converters for MVDC & HVDC. In particular, we develop AC-DC and DC-DC power converters, medium frequency transformers, power inductors and high voltage power electronics building blocks. The program is looking for an R&D engineer in power electronics to sustain its growth and to take up new challenges.
**Objectives / Missions**:
Under the responsibility of the MFT - Medium Frequency Transformers - team leader, you lead your activities as projects, ensuring quality, costs and delays. You coordinate the activities of your field with other R&D engineers, systems and innovation engineer and project manager.
**Main activities**:
- Prototyping (Medium frequency transformers, switching cells, power switches, converters)
- Design of test benches (circuit simulation, losses computation and thermal management)
- Design of power supply units ( with power switches)
- Execution of test bench experimental campaigns (DOE, experimental trials)
- Metrology related to dielectric quantities (Partial discharges, dielectric strength)
- Material aging analysis and investigation of the associated physicochemical phenomena.
- Technical report writing
**Communication**:
- Technical coordination with internal and external customers
- Participation to conference and communication events to present the results of the R&D activity.
- Technical documents writing for customers or partners
**Project mode organization**:
- Plan and organize the activities in agreement with the management
- Lead technical meetings related to the activity
- Regular project reporting
**R&D results promotion**:
- Foster and support initiative for external partnerships
- Propose innovations and generate intellectual properties
**Technical skills**:
- Master (or equivalent) in electrical engineering specialized in power electronics
- Signal treatment and metrology skills will be called for
- Projects in which you will take part cover dielectric materials, aging mechanisms and electromagnetic compatibility, skills related to those areas will be appreciated.
- Software use includes CREO (CAD software), LTSpice, Matlab, Comsol and other similar softwares.
