Job Description

Pharmaceutical Systems

With innovative pre-fillable syringes, self-injection systems, safety systems and needle technologies, the Pharmaceutical Systems (PS) team offer an extensive selection of solutions designed to protect, package and deliver drug therapies.

About the role :

Reporting to the VP/GM and as a member of the Prefillable Syringes management team, the Business Director oversees the general management of the plunger stopper and add/ons business segments.

In this role you will be responsible for creating and communicating the vision, strategy, timely commercialization and ramp-up of new business opportunities for your segment. You will manage the segment's financial performance (for revenues and gross profit) worldwide and also be responsible for portfolio planning and product development, as well as cross-functional matrix leadership of R&D, marketing, operations, quality and sales.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the annual planning process to define and communicate global business strategy.
  • Develop annual and multi-generational product roadmaps, strategic plan and launch planning in collaboration and consultation with R&D, Marketing and Operations management team.
  • Work with various functions and provide guidance to achieve KPIs and business objectives, i.e, quality, policy implementation, customer satisfaction, financial performance etc.
  • Collaborate with global Sales & Operations (S&OP) team to reconcile capacity planning and mitigate capacity issues.
  • Collaborate with therapeutic segment Business Directors to ensure alignment of plunger stopper and add-on strategy with therapeutic segment needs, moving towards a full solution approach.
  • Work closely with Procurement to manage ongoing suppliers and sub-contractor relationships to ensure alignment with platform and operations strategy.
  • Work with regional marketing groups on launch planning, sales tools, public policy, advertising and trade shows; and identify new product innovations, optimize product portfolio, launch new products and line extensions, and manage product life cycles, forecasting, pricing, etc..

About you:

We seek a Servant Leader with an established foundation of leadership credibility based on integrity and a track record of success in delivering large and/or multiple projects and influencing business results.

Ideally you will bring experience in the rubber category, or experience managing complex supplier relationships.

Also you will have:

  • At least 7 years' progressive management experience in the medical technology, life sciences, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
  • Proven track record of sales excellence and leadership.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of the medical device market environment.
  • Proven ability to design, develop and implement business strategies, convert them into tactical marketing plans and deliver results.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to define a vision, drive change and coach others.
  • Decision-making skills and ability to make decisions in the absence of consensus, if necessary.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers and potential or existing business partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
  • Ability to work in all regions of the world at an executive and tactical sales/marketing level.
  • Proven experience in developing others. Provide coaching and feedback as appropriate to the situations.
  • Take steps to ensure organizational capabilities are in place to achieve strategy.
