Position Overview

This PhD opportunity focuses on the intersection of energy efficiency and Quality of Experience (QoE) in the context of emerging Beyond 5G mobile networks. The successful candidate will engage in a collaborative research initiative between two teams at INRIA, COATI and DIANA, alongside the French National Research Agency.

Research Context

The project aims to deepen our understanding of the relationship between network traffic and user experience, particularly in applications such as video streaming, gaming, and virtual reality. Previous studies have laid the groundwork for methodologies to assess QoE, and this research will extend those methodologies to various applications beyond YouTube.

Key Responsibilities

The doctoral candidate will:

  • Model the computational and network demands of new applications within B5G networks.
  • Establish connections between application requirements and user-perceived QoE.
  • Conduct experiments to analyze resource utilization and network traffic, employing machine learning techniques.
  • Develop strategies for optimal resource management that balances energy consumption with user experience.

This research will leverage local platforms for experimentation and will contribute to a broader collaborative effort involving multiple French research institutions.
