About the Role:
As the Senior Director of Product Design for our Transportation sector, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Design. Your role will involve leveraging your exceptional design leadership to shape and implement the user experience strategy for our Transportation initiatives. Your objective is to attract and engage a vast number of new users through creative product design solutions. You will play a pivotal role in our customer acquisition and engagement strategy, integrating various marketing efforts to enhance our outreach. Your team will be responsible for designing every aspect of how our product captivates and engages new users, from notification systems to innovative user acquisition flows.
In this newly established position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, marketers, researchers, product managers, and engineers, to define and execute our product strategy. You will lead the design of transportation and engagement experiments, creating seamless experiences across multiple user touchpoints. As this domain is newly formed, you will also have responsibilities for mentoring and building a high-caliber product design team, attracting talented designers as the organization continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Strategy: Develop and communicate a comprehensive user experience roadmap that includes both immediate experiments and long-term initiatives for transportation and engagement experiences, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.
- Design Oversight: Lead the planning, execution, culture, process, and outcomes of the transportation domain, overseeing multiple projects aimed at attracting and engaging new users.
- Team Development: Define resource plans, assess team needs, and advocate for necessary adjustments to ensure team effectiveness.
- Mentorship: Manage and nurture the growth of individual Product Designers, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance their skills and align their contributions with our design principles.
- Design Vision: Deliver innovative designs that add value and propel the organization forward, embodying our commitment to redefining the user experience.
- Functional Leadership: Serve as a role model within the design function, promoting a culture of quality and data-informed design decisions.
- Operational Enhancements: Collaborate with design leadership to continuously improve our design tools and processes, enhancing efficiency and creativity across the design function.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading teams focused on enhancing market visibility, attracting a broader consumer base, and improving user acquisition strategies. A compelling portfolio showcasing work executed by your team, including narratives of how your design contributions led to measurable business and user experience improvements, is essential. You should possess a deep understanding of experimentation practices, including the use of research, user interviews, and A/B testing to validate hypotheses and accelerate impact.
Additionally, you should have a strong commitment to a user-centered approach in software design, focusing on understanding and meeting customer needs. Experience in attracting, hiring, and nurturing design talent is crucial, as is a collaborative, low-ego approach to teamwork. Flexibility and sound judgment are also important attributes for this role.
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience working with international teams is a plus, as this role may involve collaboration with team members in various locations.
