About the Role:
The Local Trade Compliance Officer (LTCO) will play a crucial role in ensuring that all local business processes within ABB's operations in Spain, France, and Portugal are aligned with the company's trade policies and guidelines. This position will provide hands-on guidance to local business staff on trade-related requirements and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure local trade policies, guidelines, and instructions are in line with corporate and business area regulations.
- Create and maintain written procedures and guidelines for export control and sanctions regulations, as well as customs compliance requirements.
- Implement and maintain a general export control and customs compliance awareness program for local business staff.
- Ensure written overview of all trade-related policies and instructions, processes, and tools, and maintain up-to-date annually.
- Apply for customs and/or export control licenses/authorizations as required.
- Support the execution of local Trade Reviews and/or conduct annual self-audits of Local Business trade compliance.
- Notify the CTCO and in-house legal counsel of suspected export control violations and sensitive customs compliance matters.
- Work with the CTCO, Information Systems management, and local Business management to ensure effective use of SAP's Global Trade Services compliance and customs modules.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration for end-to-end continuous improvement related to trade management and trade compliance.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support local Business Area controller in the preparation of financial reporting, business planning, budgeting, and forecasting of the local unit in France.
- Analyze business performance versus budget and forecast, and propose improvement actions.
- Validate the accuracy of financial data and business information and reports through reconciliations and review of exceptions.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of export control and customs rules and regulations (willingness to learn).
- Sufficient seniority to effectively communicate across all levels of the local business.
- Business mindset, responsiveness, strong sense of ownership, self-driven, willingness to explore.
- Team player with good communication skills, capable of communicating in English, French, and Spanish, both verbally and in writing.
