The Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, stage, and configure equipment, performing both startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) in accordance with detailed instructions provided through checklists, guides, and standard operating procedures; assist and mentor fellow technicians in completing intricate tasks.
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting in line with established protocols, swiftly identifying the root causes of issues while minimizing disruption to customers and business operations.
- Adhere to procedures for communicating, reporting, and escalating incidents to the appropriate shift leaders.
- Engage in daily safety briefings, fulfill mandatory safety training, and comply with safety regulations (e.g., equipment usage, lifting techniques, electrical safety, ladder and rolling stair operation).
- Foster a collaborative and effective team environment by sharing knowledge, participating in regular team discussions, posing questions, and staying informed about the progress of colleagues' tasks.
- Proactively disseminate relevant information to facilitate smooth workflows and reduce the impact of changes in their work area on others.
- Comply with Data Center Services (DCS) business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Efficiently complete assigned tickets in alignment with expectations for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each task type while meeting or exceeding established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), with guidance from senior technicians.
- Exhibit pride and accountability for service quality, thoroughness, and the overall user experience; demonstrate ownership of the data center facilities.
- Understand the client's business and maintain a strong client focus to appreciate the impact of their work when fulfilling tickets and assigned responsibilities.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2+ years of experience as a data center technician or in computer/server hardware, with a solid understanding of component and system failures.
- Experience with software tools (e.g., diagnostics, testing, firmware updates) and real-time issue resolution during deployment.
- A high school diploma is mandatory.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently or more with assistance.
- Capability to work independently or collaboratively, including with remote teams.
