About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our team in Monaco. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the bank's adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and maintaining a robust compliance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Head of Compliance in managing the team and handling complex compliance matters.
  • Represent Compliance within the EFGI Client Acceptance Committee (CAC), contributing to the assessment and onboarding of new clients.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and approval of account opening requests, ensuring alignment with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
  • Oversee periodic reviews and CIP modifications, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and provide recommendations to the Head of Compliance as needed.
  • Champion a strong compliance culture within the bank by promoting awareness and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and follow up on audit points, ensuring timely remediation and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the drafting of reports for regulatory authorities, providing clear and concise information on compliance activities.
  • Mentor and train junior Compliance Officers, fostering their professional development and knowledge base.
  • Continuously improve and manage the bank's policies, procedures, and controls related to Financial Crime Compliance.
  • Maintain and update the Compliance Risk Assessment, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular second-line control reviews and present findings to relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in law, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • Fluent English (and preferably French).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Compliance function within a financial institution or audit/consulting firm.
  • Proven managerial experience is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of AML-CFT regulatory obligations, laws, and regulations, including major sanctions regimes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player who is adaptable, eager to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
