Latham’s Business Development Department executes a shared vision to protect and grow market share, enhance client service, increase client loyalty, and drive cross-selling efforts across the firm’s global platform. **About the team**
The Markets team serves as trusted, commercial advisors for lawyers in a specific geographic location. This highly valued team helps lawyers to engage, retain and expand new and existing client relationships, and to target new clients. By building strong relationships with the lawyers they support, this pivotal team then work closely with their global BD colleagues to help those lawyers capitalise on Latham’s market-leading, global offering. One day is never the same as the next for this flexible, nimble team who drive and execute wide-ranging strategic initiatives for their respective markets.
**About the role**
As a BD Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for enhancing the position and profile of the Finance and Litigation practices, supporting growth and revenue generation and ensure that we constantly strive to improve and innovate the client experience. Other key responsibilities include:
- Working on strategic initiatives with partners, BD colleagues and other functions across the firm, with an emphasis on innovation and development
- Maintaining knowledge of and anticipating key and emerging legal and market developments, and industry trends impacting the practices and complimentary practice areas
- Acting as a strategic adviser to the practice group leaders
- Conducting research of prospective targets, industries, markets, competition and conflicts via firm-wide resources, online databases, and librarian searches
- Preparing and drafting all market-facing materials and communications
- Leading the development and production of client presentations in coordination with the firm New Business Team and working with the global BD team on multi-office opportunities using the firm’s proposal management systems and resources, including follow-up activities with the lawyers and business development personnel to determine, document and share results, best practices and key learning
- Producing, updating and maintaining local marketing materials and working with relevant global BD teams to ensure content in the firm’s systems and databases is current and relevant
**About you**
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Are able to understand the importance of business issues and to participate in the development of the services rendered by the BD team
- Thrive working in a team with a client service focus
- Display strong communication skills, including the ability to interact with people at all organizational levels of the firm
- Demonstrate excellent writing and oral communication skills both in French and in English
And have:
- Significant relevant experience and related analytical experience in a legal or professional services environment
- Knowledge of specific industries such as Tech or Healthcare and Life Sciences, whilst not essential, would be advantageous
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing or related field required, with legal background as a plus
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
