Renewables Performance Manager and CPPA Specialist

Location: Paris / Brussels / Europe

Role Overview:

The Renewables Global Business Unit (R-GBU) is dedicated to enhancing the development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) assets, boasting an EBIT of approximately €1.1Bn. With a diverse workforce of 4,000 employees representing over 50 nationalities across 20 countries, R-GBU manages an impressive installed capacity of 32 GW across four operational regions, encompassing Solar (3.5 GW), Wind (10.9 GW), and Hydro (17.7 GW) assets. Our strategic goal is to expand our installed capacity to 80 GW by 2030.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support PPA Development: Oversee the PPA pipeline across our asset portfolio, ensuring effective tracking of activities and progress.
  • Assist countries in formulating comprehensive business cases.
  • Review all PPAs, lead governance updates, and disseminate our PPA Golden Rules throughout Europe.
  • Prepare documentation for EU and RGBU Commitment Committees / Excom to facilitate transaction approvals.
  • Provide comprehensive support for transaction evaluation and execution, focusing on risk and reward distribution.
  • Foster relationships with intermediaries, advisers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop internal models to assess PPA pricing offers and create a library of pricing references.
  • Identify operational synergies and risks, participating in risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Energy Management Europe to monitor PPA activities and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Lead the PPA manager community in Europe by sharing best practices and organizing seminars.
  • Assist in deal processes and negotiation preparations, including strategy development and documentation.

Battery Development Support:

  • Work closely with the Business Development team and other ENGIE entities to evaluate battery opportunities across Europe.
  • Contribute to the development of battery projects and expertise within EU RGBU.
  • Create internal models to analyze revenue streams for various markets.
  • Establish baseline modeling approaches for business model discussions at the country level.

Fleet Performance Monitoring:

  • Collaborate with the wind performance officer to monitor the performance of the EU RES portfolio.
  • Oversee the EU portfolio of maintenance contracts in conjunction with the RGBU O&M Service Performance Manager.
  • Align with country strategies regarding maintenance practices.
  • Manage LTSA renegotiation activities and conduct contract reviews.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordination: Collaborate with operational entities to promote best practices and share expertise.
  • Benchmarking Studies: Lead interdisciplinary teams for strategic benchmarking studies to enhance fleet performance.
  • Communication: Prepare and coordinate documents for management review, ensuring confidentiality.

The incumbent will report directly to the VP of Europe Operations and will not have management responsibilities.

Team Environment:

The RENEWABLE OPERATIONS EUROPE team is committed to:

  • Setting and monitoring HSE objectives for Renewables activities.
  • Defining operational KPIs for assets.
  • Monitoring fleet performance and supporting operational entities in identifying underperformance.
  • Designing asset management guidelines.
  • Coordinating with GEM for Corporate PPA development.
  • Ensuring commercial performance management.
  • Developing innovative business models for Corporate PPAs and financial optimization.
  • Providing technical expertise for site selection and resource assessment.
  • Anticipating new technology rollouts and steering R&D efforts.
  • Ensuring comprehensive data collection for all assets through digital tools.

Internal Interfaces:

  • Group level: BDSO, DOP/IPOS, Global Care, M&A, AIFA, Legal, GEMS.
  • R-GBU level: MD Europe, Operations, Global Industrialization Platform, Finance.
  • Country level: MD for each country, operations.

External Interfaces: Partners, lenders, legal advisors, and consultants.

Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in identifying business opportunities related to Corporate PPAs.
  • In-depth knowledge of the European energy market and its regulatory impacts.
  • Autonomous and proactive individual with strong initiative.
  • Collaborative team player with a motivation to share ideas and connect with other teams.
  • Ambitious mindset with the ability to explore new opportunities.

Language Proficiency: English is essential; knowledge of French, German, Spanish, or Italian is advantageous.
